Holding a cake sale outside the Terrace Bar they were able to raise money for the Breast Cancer Awareness Charity whilst getting students to partake in activities such as 'Pin the Nipple on the Boob' and finger painting a boob, symbolising fingers acting as little soldiers helping to locate signs of early breast cancer by feeling for abnormalities.
The enthusiasm from the team was infectious as students came to talk to them about the charity and showed an interest in how to get involved. They also attended our 'Pink Party Flirt' dancing on stage with their strap on boobs, taking pictures with students and raising further money. People were also asked to bring a Bra to donate to women in Gambia which proved popular as a bucket was filled.
Playmates friday also aimed to promote the importance of fitness and Caroline an external Zumba teacher from the local area taught a free morning session in the Vault. Her high energy class got students moving, shaking and having a giggle showing that fitness doesn't have to be daunting and can be done in a friendly environment with your mates.
And finally, a BIG thank you to Katy Loveless our Welfare Officer and Gemma Taylor our Events & Marketing Manager who worked continuously to make this week a success. Without them the organisation of external visitors would not have been possible, yet thanks to their hard work students were able to enjoy free classes, talk to charities, learn about wellbeing issues and understanding that organisations are always around to help.
