Monday saw representatives from ABC (Anorexia and Bulimia Care) and Student Mind set up stands on level three of the student union building in aid of Mental Health Awareness. Both charities where available from 10.30am-3pm for students to come along for information, advice, support or just an informal chat about keeping healthy bodies and minds. The stands attracted lots of interest and the representatives were able to connect with students to pass on helpful information regarding holding a healthy relationship with food and promoting awareness of mental health issues.
Free fruit was supplied by catering to encouraging having a
healthy body and mind whilst at university. The catering department offershealthy meals three times a day, from fresh fruit and veg, salad bars, deli-counter and home-made dinners.
Information from student services was also available, including a ‘Mind Apple’ tree where students were encouraged to write down the ‘five a day that are good for your mind’ including responses varying from a good cup of tea, to a night at bop, seeing friends and a reading a good book! This acted as a visual as students wrote responses on ‘apples’ that were strung from a tree creating a display to promote positive thinking and wellbeing.
