CoppaFeel! Uni Boob Teams nationwide are on a mission and here at The University of Winchester we have our own group of boob enthusiasts spreading the message to love your hooters and show them the attention they deserve by giving them the once over every month! You may have seen the team out and about in the last couple of months, holding cake sales in the Terrace Bar and even making a guest appearance at Flirt!. This has been in aid of raising awareness of catching out Breast Cancer and making sure that diagnosis occurs at the earliest stage possible. You can next come and see the team and support the campaign on Friday 7th of February at the Terrace Bar, where they will be selling roses and sweets to be delivered to halls on Valentine's Day. So how can you get involved in giving as much support to this campaign as your trusty push up bra gives to you..... Sophie Lindsay-Ogg, Team leader of Winchester Uni Boob Team is asking you to 'Coppa feel of your boobs every month 'to learn what is normal for you and so if you detect a change you can go and get it checked out.' You can also sign up to CoppaFeel!'s free SMS reminder service by texting WIN to 70500 which will send you a free monthly reminder to check your boobs. However it is not just our very own Uni Boob Team that are raising awareness, celebrities, aptly labelled 'B (oob) Listers' such as Dermot O'Leary, Fearne Cotton and Newton Faulkner have all been getting involved and 'Coppin' a feel'. Have a look at the fantastic charity events they have ben staging and appearing in recently... www.coppafeel.org For more information Visit:

Team Visit: @UBTWinchester https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coppafeel-Winchester-Uni-Boob-Team/479278368824394 .....and remember to come and speak to the team on the 7th of February at the Terrace Bar! The Big Tidy up was a huge success with over 30 students who turned out, donned their volunteer bibs, picked up bags and littler picks and grouped into three teams to disperse into the local area for the big clean up! Trevor Lynas, Winchesters Neighbourhood Services Officer was 'pleased to report that we have since had a couple of happy residents call the council to thank everyone involved with this initiative!' Not only did we manage to make a difference within the community but students were able to experience a volunteering event and earn free entry into Bop that night. Throughout the week the Winchester Spirits Cheerleading team managed to raise over £600 through cake sales, guessing teddy names, how many sweets in the jar and encouraging people to fill in the Naomi House Logo with their spare change. Thursday played host to the Student Union's first ever RAG Rocks event, an evening filled with entertainment, live music acts and waxing rugby boys. The Cheerleading team, Dance Squad and Capoeira society showcased their talents to the audience whilst the Netball team sold wax strips in preparation for the arrival of the rugby team who were sat down with fear in their eyes as everyone took to the stage with their strips to de-hair, legs, chests, backs and even armpits. After music from The Grenades, the evening ended with everyone taking part in learning some Zumba moves, look out for videos and photos of even the guys strutting their stuff. Thank you to all the students, societies and clubs that attended this weeks events, took part and helped to raise money for RAG week!
UCU has informed the University and Winchester Student Union that they intend to strike this Semester for two hours on each of these days:
Thursday 23rd January 11am -1pm Tuesday 28th January 2pm-4pm Monday 10th February 9am-11am You may find as a result of these two hour strikes, that some of your lectures may be cut short. The Student Union has maintained close communication with UCU and they have encouraged all lecturers and staff to inform students of any disruption they may face if they are choosing to Strike. I must emphasise that while we hope lecturers will be forthcoming with their students about any disruption they may face, if you believe a lecture or seminar you have might be affected, please do contact your relevant lecturer for clarification. Whilst the Student Union is supportive of lecturers and other staff at our University and agree that they should feel properly supported and compensated, these strikes will cause disruption and we hope that the issue of fair pay on the National scale is resolved soon so that our student body can continue this academic year with no further interruptions. Any questions regarding the two hour strikes, please contact: [email protected] or come to the SU Offices on Level 3. It’s time for The University of Winchester to show everyone how Rag is done!
