Welcome back to Winchester! We hope you’ve all enjoyed the holidays and had a well-earned break but now you are ready to take advantage of all the amazing events and campaigns we have lined up for you this semester.
January can be a daunting month, the excitement of Christmas and New Year has worn off and many students are left with worries about the forthcoming year, money, workload and returning to a university routine. Here at the SU we will try our best to drag you out of the January blues so from first year to third year workloads or worries, please do come and visit or E-mail our Exec team who are on hand to help with welfare, education and general problems.
Many of us will have entered 2014 with the promise of sticking to New Year’s Resolutions from making healthier life style choices to vowing to get involved more or working harder. Some of the Exec team have come up with some of their own to make sure that this semester really is the best we’ve ever had and making sure we are fully supporting our students, oh, and to survive Tour.
To start the ball rolling my New Year’s Resolution is to realise It’s okay not to make the library my second home this semester and take breaks to make more time for friends, activities and blogging making the most of my last semester! Alice Plaskett: Communications Officer.
Mine would be to get the bee hives on campus, and help our staff and students become more aware of the environmental issues going on around the world.– Mel Vasileva: Ethical and Environmental Officer
To have a successful Winton, survive Tour, and to get promoting elections to get the highest voting turn out we've ever had! – Meg Magrath : Vice President of Activities
To put on a successful summer ball to end three incredible years at The University of Winchester. – Demi Snape: Entertainments Officer.
To help coordinate the Elections Street Team and make sure everyone is in the know! To host a successful Student Union Awards Ceremony! And to tweet more so students know what I'm getting up to. - Sophie Farmer: President.
To get body gossip known around campus and have two successful performances in March and to make sure I do something every day to make me smile to make this the best semester yet! - Katy Loveless: Welfare Officer.
To ensure that all international and home students are enjoying not the only the Winchester experience but enjoying the experience Britain has to offer
them. - Melissa De Jager: International Officer
To find ways for students to give feedback on other areas of the University aswell as their course, such as I.T., the library, catering, the car park and estates! - Tom Lowe: Vice President of Education
