On Tuesday afternoon the first mental health forum of the semester was held in the terrace bar.
Hosted by Abby Crowe, founder of Heads up, solent mind, this was an informal friendly meeting for anyone to attend, involving sweets, snacks, drinks and even a short comedy sketch!
The importance of breaking down mental health stigmas was discussed and how students should be aware that there is always support available from different sectors within the university. This was also an opportunity for students to meet like minded people in a friendly environment to discuss and share their knowledge and understanding of mental health issues.
Abby Crowe has been working with Milly, a Heads Up Volunteer to support her in her ambition to become a comedian. Milly attended the meet and greet and showcased one of her sketches that had us all in stiches. This was proof that the work Abby does is invaluable and is continuing to help others with personal issues and also personal goals.
Whether you would like to take an active role in discussions and activities or just come see and listen to what the Mental Health Forum is about, everyone is welcome to attend the fortnightly meetings. Details of the next meeting can be found at Winchester Student Union.
