It’s been too long. Too damn long.
I would apologise for the significant absence in my replies to this blog and the latent updating of the same, but I’ve been busy. Mainly doing work, like almost all of you as well, but also preparing for what comes next; the after-university thing, the ‘adulting’, also known amongst an extensively quantified survey as the black pit of reality (Sampson, 2016).
I have enjoyed greatly the time I’ve spent either working as a part-time Officer for the Student Union, planning and referencing assignments, as well as even writing this Weebly blog.
Okay, maybe one of those was a lie, but that is beside the point: IT’S WEEK 12 EVERYBODY!!!
This is the time we can frolic with little care for consequence after handing in all those hard-worked, hard-referenced and hard-won assignments that have enhanced and equally plagued our University experience. This is not the time to be proud, however, as there is still plenty of work and (in equal measure) fun to imbibe before our year of study is up!
Whether a first or final year, these sometime-intriguing, most-time painful collection of works are what proves you have the will and capability to forge a degree-qualified career and even a profession. It is, after all, the reason we all came to Winchester in the first place; ‘Wisdom ond Lar’ (Wisdom and Knowledge in Old English).
Anyway, enough of my often patronising turn of phrase so frequently passed on through the medium of blogging. I’m primarily writing to inform you of the fun that does await all of us at the Student Union (big surprise, eh?).
THIS WEDNESDAY: The Awesome Weekly BOP! Free prize from me if you can figure out what on earth the initials actually stand for.
THIS THURSDAY: End of Term Party! A rare instalment each semester of excellent music and even better company – pop on down if you want to celebrate the end of semester in style.
THIS FRIDAY: Drink the Bar Dry! My absolute favourite day of each semester, this 11am-5pm extravaganza is there to supply drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) at cheaper prices. Always a brilliant time guaranteed, come along and sit, chat and chill with students (and some lecturers) from all courses and faculties.
Obviously this is just a preview of the excellent collection of events taking place THIS VERY WEEK, but there is also plenty more to get yourself involved in once we all return for the assessment semester in May. Don’t forget to book a ticket for the Summer Ball, and best of luck on those last assignments!
