NUS LGBT Conference took place on Friday 9th May –Sunday 11th May at the University of Nottingham
Winchester has never in recent memory had a delegate attend the NUS LGBT Conference, but this year both Harriet Hender and Jordan Cleary were immensely proud that they had the opportunity to attend and represent the Student Union.
The NUS LGBT nationally recognisable for their high profile
campaigns and our representative Jordan Cleary exclaimed how ‘The conference was an interesting and rewarding experience’ with friends made and contacts acquired, they left with ideas that they can use to further the LGBT society and feedback to the Student Union.

"My own experience was an exciting, if nerve-wracking one. I successfully passed through a motion to foster greater understanding and respect with Christian Unions and LGBT societies, something which I feel is vital to promote a campus of tolerance, respect and love. " - Jordan Cleary
"Being an active LGBT student, I believe it is vital that we
fight liberation for our rights. Going to the NUS LGBT Conference has inspired me to continue with my work around campus. The weekend was tough but was worth
going. I love hearing people’s views on things. I have never tweeted so much in my life. Social networking in conferences is very good to update everyone else who cannot attend. I have gained connections with the NUS LGBT Campaign so we can make movement on the institution. I just want to thank the LGBT* & Friends Society to fund and a huge thank you to the Student Union who helped us to fund " - Harriet Hender.
