On Saturday 21st, the rain held off for Winchester freshers and returners to enjoy a successful Freshers Fayre'13 where sign up's for clubs and societies were at a record high!
A fantastic turn out ensured that the effort all stall holders made on the day including decoration, freebies and enthusiastic representatives really paid off. Societies and Clubs, stationed in the Stripe and Canteen, were constantly swarmed by students showing an interest and signing up to try new things. Other external stall holders comprised of local business such as Winchester Discovery Centre, Fab Vintage, Hampshire Energy Group and Winchester Tourism, giving new students a taste of what the local area has to offer and what else there is to get involved with.
At Winchester, students are encouraged to join a club or society to enrich their time at university, aiding them to meet new people, continue a hobby or discover a hidden talent. With Winchester Student Union offering societies varying from Afro Caribbean Society to the Mooting Society, students can be sure there is something for them, and if not there is always an opportunity to set up your own society or club.
The Executive Officers also manned their own stalls, gathering interested in new societies, creating interest for volunteering and participating, information on becoming a student representative and giving out information and other freebies to promote welfare whilst at university. The positive reception and interest we had from students across the years really made this a successful day.
If you missed freshers fayre or just didn't have time to visit every stall then head to our website to check out the full list of our Clubs and Societies....
